Practical answers about use, costs, law, payments and privacy.

Understanding Security Parking

What is Security Parking?

Security Parking is a Swiss service that enables entitled users and managers to document unauthorised parking, inform the driver and follow the case. It is developed and operated by PMEtool Sàrl, a Swiss company founded in 2011.

Who is Security Parking for?

The service is intended in particular for owners and tenants of private spaces, condominiums, property managers, shops, medical practices, companies, clubs, sports facilities, car park operators and municipalities.

Can Security Parking be used without an account?

Yes. An entitled person can record a case with a valid email address and confirmation of their right to the space. An account is preferable for regular, multi-user or multi-site use.

Does equipment have to be installed in the car park?

Not for standard operation. A phone and a printed ticket are sufficient. Fixed cameras, authorisation registers and special integrations are assessed separately.

Can I start with a simple warning?

Yes. The Warning template contains no amount and informs the driver before a compensation request or other applicable measure is used in the event of a repeat occurrence.

Prices, compensation and revenue sharing

How much does Security Parking cost?

The basic solution is completely free, with or without a mandate. Special configuration or ordered ticket booklets may be charged by prior agreement.

Who funds Security Parking?

Infrastructure, administration and dispute-handling costs are funded by a share of the revenue from compensation payments.

Does the person entitled to the space receive a share of the compensation?

Not automatically. Revenue sharing depends on a specific mandate and its agreed terms. The applicable rate or amount is communicated to the account holder.

How is the revenue-sharing rate determined?

Without an account or a mandate providing for revenue sharing, no revenue is shared. Under a mandate, Security Parking may share up to 75% of the base compensation actually collected. The rate is agreed when the mandate is set up according to internal criteria and may be reviewed periodically. These criteria take account in particular of case volume, speed of payment, the handling of complaints and disputes, and the level of support required. Reminder fees and other ancillary charges are not included in the revenue-sharing basis.

What compensation amount may be requested?

The amount can be configured between CHF 40 and CHF 150. Security Parking recommends CHF 60 for a standard case. It must be justifiable in view of the circumstances and costs caused.

Are reminder fees shared with the person entitled to the space?

No. Reminder, keeper-search and collection costs are not normally included in the revenue-sharing basis unless otherwise agreed.

Legal basis and evidence

Does Security Parking issue private fines?

No. On private property this is a documented civil compensation request, not a fine imposed by an authority. A separate service for municipal fixed-penalty notices is also available at amende-ordre.ch.

Is a judicial parking ban required?

Not to document a case or assess a civil compensation request. A judicial parking ban opens a separate criminal route when its conditions are met.

What is the legal basis for private parking compensation?

Unauthorised parking may interfere with possession. Article 928 of the Swiss Civil Code notably allows the disturbed possessor to seek removal or prevention of the interference and compensation for damage. The specific circumstances remain decisive.

What evidence should be retained?

The case should make the place, date, applicable rule and vehicle clear. A readable photo showing the vehicle and plate, together with time, location and relevant signage, strengthens the evidence.

Must a ticket be placed on the vehicle?

The ticket immediately informs the driver and provides the reference for viewing the case. The primary evidence remains the documented case and the rule applying to the car park.

Does Security Parking provide towing?

No. Towing is not automatically provided. Removing a vehicle involves separate conditions and legal risks that must be assessed for the particular situation.

Payment, reminders and disputes

What happens if the driver does not pay?

Under a mandate, Security Parking may identify the keeper, send a reminder and take the agreed proportionate steps. Depending on the car park, the case may also be passed to the entitled person for a possible report of a breach of a judicial parking ban.

Does Security Parking identify the vehicle keeper?

Not for every record. Under a mandate, a search is generally carried out when a case remains unpaid and further processing justifies it.

Who handles a dispute?

Security Parking reviews the dispute and supporting documents. The entitled person remains the decision-maker where a cancellation or special assessment requires approval.

How can I dispute a request or ask for a review?

Use the contact form and provide the reference, vehicle plate and precise reasons. Relevant supporting documents allow faster verification.

How do I view and pay a case?

The case reference and vehicle plate are required. Together they provide access only to that case and the available payment methods.

I received a letter from Security Parking that is not in my language. What should I do?

You may receive a letter in French even though you do not understand that language. Send us the case reference and vehicle plate through our contact form, stating your preferred language: English, French, German or Italian. We will email you a new version of the document in the requested language free of charge.

Application and tickets

How is a case recorded?

Allow location and camera access, take the first photo with the plate visible, check the recognition, add up to three more photos if needed, save the case and place the completed ticket on the vehicle.

How should a foreign registration plate be entered?

Enter the registration number exactly as recognised by our system, without adding a country designation. Do not add a suffix such as “-F” or “/I”: the driver must enter the same number to find the case.

Does the application work on iPhone, Android and computers?

Yes. It works in a recent browser on a phone, tablet or computer. SecurityPark is available on Google Play; on iPhone and iPad the site can be added to the Home Screen.

Installing on Android

The SecurityPark app is available on Google Play.

Installing on iPhone or iPad

In Safari, tap Share and then Add to Home Screen. Security Parking can then be opened from its icon like an application.

What is the QR code on the ticket used for?

The QR code on the ticket contains a link to the details of the corresponding Security Parking case. Open your phone’s camera, point it at the QR code and tap the link that appears. It is not a Swiss QR bill and should not be scanned with a banking application. If you prefer not to use it, go to securityparking.ch/#pay and enter the case reference and vehicle registration plate. You may also ask us for a direct link by providing those two details.

How can I obtain reporting tickets?

Four A6 tickets can be printed on one A4 sheet, or booklets can be ordered. Several templates are available for different types of car park, including a no-amount warning.

Can several staff members use the same account?

Yes. Professional accounts can include several users identified by their email address, maintaining consistent follow-up for the same organisation.

Data and privacy

Where is the data hosted?

Cases and photographs are stored long-term on infrastructure hosted in Switzerland. Technical providers may temporarily process only the data required for their function.

How are cases protected?

Account data is segregated and stored in encrypted files. Public access to a case requires the combination of its reference and the vehicle plate.

Are photos kept indefinitely?

No. They are kept during processing and the required retention periods, then deleted when no longer needed in accordance with the retention policy.

Professional car parks and special cases

Is Security Parking suitable for property managers or several buildings?

Yes. One account can include several users and sites. Configuration, follow-up and any revenue sharing are adapted to the mandate.

Does Security Parking check P+R entitlements?

Not by default. The operator checks subscriptions and authorisations and submits the cases to be documented. Integration with an existing register can be assessed separately.

Can a municipality use Security Parking?

Yes, but the municipal process must be distinguished from civil compensation relating to private car parks. Responsibilities, collection and documents are configured for the municipality’s legal framework.
